NEW FAMILIES

FAMILIES NEW TO COMPETITIVE

If you are thinking of transitioning your player from recreational baseball to competitive baseball. Below are some tips and things to consider.

HOW TO GET ON A "COMP" TEAM:
•Players get on teams in a several different ways. Here are a few:
•Through a recreational team that they were on with the LBL. A volunteer coach wants to keep 10-12 players together and play more competitive games.
•A volunteer parent/coach that knows several different players looking to play competitive baseball. Example: Kids from school or the neighborhood

•Your child goes to a competitive tryout in the June-August prior to playing in the spring. The coach/organization selects you to a team.
•The LBL does not currently accept individual registrations to place you on a comp team. You must have gone to a tryout of been contacted by a coach.

TIME COMMITMENT:

•Teams may start playing tournaments in January through July. Some teams play fall baseball starting in September ending in October.
•Teams begin indoor practices in the winter months, teams move outside on March 1st, and league games will begin the first of April. •Longmont League games are primarily played Monday-Thursdays.
•Games may be played from Denver to Fort Collins.
•Tournaments are played on the weekends and are usually played along the Front Range but may require travel and hotel stays in various locations in and outside of Colorado.

PRACTICE TIME:

Teams may practices two or three times for 1.5-2 hours per week in addition to playing games.

FINANCIAL:

AA: The estimated cost per player is $800-1500. These cost typically cover the league registration fee, uniform costs and tournaments. Some teams may be involved in fundraising to help offset costs.

Majors: The estimated cost per player is $800-coaches/team discretion. These cost typically cover the league registration fee, uniform costs and tournaments. Some teams may be involved in fundraising to help offset costs.

PLAYING TIME:

Playing time is not guaranteed. It is all based on your players performance primarily, then your effort, attitude and availability.
