Weather Policy

Weeknights all games/leagues:

Prior to 3pm: Decisions to cancel games due to unfavorable weather conditions will be determined by league officials and/or umpires, with possible input from coaches. Look on website and call hotlines:

After 3pm: If there has not been a decision reported to the coach/team/parents, the decision will be made at the field at game time between umpires and coaches. Both coaches and team members should show up, or risk forfeit. This could be a double forfeit if officials decide the game can be played and neither team has enough players to play.

***Please be patient. The weather is ever changing in Colorado and we are doing our best to communicate with officials across 6 different locations on the front range.

Lightning Guidelines

Below is the link to the NFHS policy. LBL will follow rule 3d when lightning detecting devices are available. When they are not, follow 3b (30 minute rule).

GAME DELAYS:

When a lighting/rain/snow delay occurs, game time continues. The delay may not exceed the game time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The proceeding games must start within 30 minutes or are subject to cancellation. When game time expires and the game was still in a delay, the game is called and is made official if one of the below occur:

  • ALL divisions: 1 hour of the game time was played.
  • For 10-12U divisions: 3 innings were completed or the home team was winning and 2 & ½ innings were completed.
  • For 13U, 14U & HS divisions: 4 innings were completed or the home team was winning and 3 & ½ innings were completed.
  • Suspended games: If 1 inning of play was not completed or 30 minutes or less, the game will be rescheduled and restart. With 1 inning completed but less than an hour played or 2 & ½ innings for 10-12U;3 &½ innings for 13U-HS, the game will be suspended at that moment in time and be resumed where the game left off at a later date. If for any reason it can’t be resumed it will end in a tie.
